About STI

Secretariat Training Institute (STI) was established in January 1956 at Karachi as an integral part of the Establishment Division. The Institute was declared an Attached Department of the Establishment Division on July 1, 1960. STI is housed in its own building at H-9, Islamabad since December 1987. Primary mandate of the Institute is capacity building of Federal Government Employees. The training has two main steams i.e. Specialized Trainings and General Capacity Building. STI is the specialized training academy for CSS probationers belonging to Office Management Group (OMG); whereas different capacity building courses are designed and held round the year for officials and officers in BS-17 to BS-19 belonging to Federal government.       • “A Seminar was held on National Day for the Rights of Working Women on 22nd December,2017 to appreciate the hard work and support of the working women in national prosperity. Mrs. Saira Furqan, Manager , Family Protection and Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Rakhshanda Perveen, Founder of Kafe Kaam shed light on the continuous struggle of the working women in all spheres of life and accolades were given to all for rising above the hardships and effectively contributing in family and national prosperity and wellbeing."
    • TRAINING ACTIVITIES DURING THE LAST MONTH:
      • A training course on “Financial Issues Relating to Retirement” was held in STI from 26-12-2017 to 29-12-2017 for the officers of the Federal Government in BS-17 to BS-19 with 28 participants. Main topics covered were preparation of Service Book, Pension rules, Benevolent Fund and Group Insurance rules, GP Fund Rules and Revise Leave Rules, 1980 etc.
      • A training course on “Urdu Composing Computer Course” was held in STI from 18-12-2017 to 29-12-2017 for APs/Stenotypists with 25 participants. Main topics covered were learning of Urdu Keyboard, Urdu Computer software/graphics and practical exercise etc.
      • A training course on “English Shorthand Theory” was held in STI from 04-09-2017 to 29-12-2017 for Stenotypists, LDCs and Dependents of Government Servants with 67 participants. Main topics being covered are basic Principles of Shorthand, Detailed Office Procedure and Basic English Grammar, Pronunciation, vocabulary and usage and etc.
      • A training course on “Microsoft Office 2013/2016” was held in STI from 18-12-2017 to 29-12-2017 for the Dependents of the Federal Government with 25 participants. Main topics covered were Microsoft Excel, Strengthening, Spreadsheet analysis capabilities.
      • A training course on “English Shorthand Refresher Course” was held in STI from 04-11-2017 to 28-12-2017 for Stenotypists, LDCs and Dependents of Government Servants with 34 participants. Main topics being covered are Dictation, Detailed Office procedure, basic English Grammar etc.
      • A training course on “English Typewriting” was held in STI from 20-11-2017 to 15-12-2017 for UDCS, and Dependents of Government Servants with 79 participants. Main topics covered were Basics of Microsoft Office, English Typewriting Key Board and Practical exercises.
      • A training course on “General Financial Rules & Procedure” was held in STI from 04-12-2017 to 15-12-2017 for the officials of the Federal Government in BS-11 to 16 with 57 participants. Main topics covered were Revised Leave Rules,1980, ATP Rules, Appeal rules, PPRA Rules etc.
      • A training course on “Orientation in Office Procedure” was held in STI from 11-12-2017 to 15-12-2017 for the officers of the Federal Government in BS-17 to BS-19 with 31 participants. Main topics covered were Introduction to Secretariat Instructions, basics Office procedures, Revised Leave Rules, 1980 and Civil Servants Act, 1973 etc.
      • A training course on “Daftary Urdu” was held in STI from 04-12-2017 to 08-12-2017 for the officials of the Federal Government with 16 participants. Main topics covered were Introduction to Daftry Urdu. Noting and Drafting in Urdu, Filing system and various forms of communication in Urdu.
