About STI

Secretariat Training Institute (STI) was established in January 1956 at Karachi as an integral part of the Establishment Division. The Institute was declared an Attached Department of the Establishment Division on July 1, 1960. STI is housed in its own building at H-9, Islamabad since December 1987. Primary mandate of the Institute is capacity building of Federal Government Employees. The training has two main steams i.e. Specialized Trainings and General Capacity Building. STI is the specialized training academy for CSS probationers belonging to Office Management Group (OMG); whereas different capacity building courses are designed and held round the year for officials and officers in BS-17 to BS-19 belonging to Federal government.     • SPECIALIZED TRAINING PROGRAMME/OMG:
      • “39th Specialized Training Program for OMG Officers has been successfully completed. Graduation ceremony was held on 23-08-2017. The Secretary Establishment Division awarded Certificates of Completion to the Probationers as Chief Guest of the Ceremony. All Officers stand posted to various Ministries/ Divisions and have accordingly relinquished charge at STI on the same date.
    • TRAINING ACTIVITIES DURING THE LAST MONTH:
      • 4-Months Training Course on “Urdu Shorthand Theory, Typewriting and Computer In-page” for employees (BS-05) to (BS-16) and Dependents of Government Servants is being held in STI from 01-08-2017 to 30-11-2017 with 20 participants. Main topics being covered are Urdu Shorthand Theory, Urdu Typewriting and Introduction to Urdu Computer In-page Software.
      • 4-Months “English Shorthand Theory” for Stenotypists / LDCs/ Dependents of Government Servants is being held in STI from 02-05-2017 to 31-08-2017 with 32 participants. Main topics being covered are Basic Principles of Shorthand, Detailed Office Procedure and Basic English Grammar, Pronunciation, vocabulary and usage etc.
      • 2-Months Training Course on “English Short Hand Refresher Course” for APSs Stenotypist / LDCs/ Dependents of Government Servants is being held in STI from 03-07-2017 to 31-08-2017 with 20 participants on topics like Dictation, Detailed Office Procedure, Basic English Grammar.
      • One week Training Course on “Duties and Responsibilities of DDOs/ Cashiers” was held in STI for DDOs and Cashiers from 21-08-2017 to 25-08-2017 with 35 participants. Main topics covered were Financial Management in the Public Sector, Financial Powers delegated to the Head of Ministry/ Divisions, Accounting Management and etc.
      • One Week Course on “Project Management using MS Project” was held in STI 21-08-17 to 25-08-17 for Officers of the Federal Government in BS-17 to BS-19 with 30 participants. Main topics covered were overview of the Microsoft Project, Tracking Projects, Multi Project Planning and etc.
      • One Week Training Course on “Good Governance in Public Sector” was held in STI from 21-08-2017 to 25-08-2017 for Officers of the Federal Government in BS-17 to BS-19 with 30 participants. Main topics covered were Good Governance, Challenges of Good Governance in Pakistan, Decision-making process and its implementation and etc.
      • One Month Training Course on “English Typewriting/IT” for UDCs/ LDCs/ Dependents of Government Servants was held in STI from 24-07-2017 to 18-08-2017 with 56 participants. Main topics covered were Basics of Microsoft Office, In-page and learning of English typewriting on keyboard and etc.
      • One week Training Course on “Office Ethics and Etiquettes” was held in STI for Officials from BS-05 to 16 from 07-08-2017 to 11-08-2017with 50 participants. Main topics covered were General Ethics and Behavior, Discipline, Control and Responsibility, Managing Crisis and etc.
      • One Week Training Course on “Disaster Management” was held in STI from 07-08-2017 to 11-08-2017 for Officers of the Federal Government in BS-17 to BS-19 with 16 participants. Main topics covered were Disaster Risk Situation and Pakistan’s vulnerabilities, Disaster Management Cycle, International Humanitarian Standards and Principles and etc.
