STP is a mandatory requirement for Section Officers through the departmental promotional exam conducted by FPSC as part of qualifying process toward confirmation in service. The whole Programme has 500 marks with following broad objectives:

 i) To provide orientation about mandate, structure and performance of Federal Government

ii) To provide professional knowledge about constitution of Pakistan and its subordinate legal frame work

iii) To provide applied knowledge of professional Rules and Regulations relating to conduct of business in the Federal Government

iv) To provide orientation on personality development thought discipline

v) To build communication Skills
